Dear Salinas Valley Voters:
Hartnell College thanks you for your support of Measure H, which passed overwhelmingly with 69.5 percent of the vote. With the measure's passage, you have made it possible for Hartnell to dramatically improve our overcrowded and aging facilities. Bond funds will help to finance additional classrooms, a new library, renovate buildings, upgrade technology systems and update safety equipment.
Because of Hartnell's excellent and affordable programs, enrollments have grown at an ever-increasing rate on the college's main campus in Salinas and at the new King City Education Center. This fall, more than 10,000 students enrolled-a 15 percent increase over last year. And the projected enrollment for 2010 is more than 15,000!
Hartnell's roots go back to 1920. For 82 years, the college has been a vital resource for the residents of the Salinas Valley. By approving Measure H, you have assured generations of future Hartnell students state-of-the-art buildings and equipment as well as a safe learning environment- thus enhancing the quality of the education they receive.
In addition to thanking the voters, we also must thank the donors, volunteers, community leaders and the Citizens for Hartnell College Committee who supported the bond's passage.
We are planning a January event to thank everyone for their support. Please plan to attend. Watch for details.
Thanks again for supporting your Hartnell College. Together we made a difference!
