Dear Hartnell Community,
The Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges informed us by letter of June 30 that it reaffirmed Hartnell College’s accreditation at its June 4-6 meeting and lifted us from warning status.
This has been quite a year at Hartnell. A year and a day after we were placed on probation, we learned that the commission acted to reaffirm accreditation. This is wonderful news, and affirmation of the tremendous amount of work that everyone at the college has done together to address the commission’s concerns and recommendations.
We are on the right track, yet we still have a lot of work to do. Specifically, the letter states that we have only partially resolved Recommendations 2, 3, and 4 and that those must be fully resolved prior to March 1, 2009. As with our previous progress reports, the commission will send a visiting team to campus to discuss the March 2009 report and check on our progress.
Becoming a better college requires a daily commitment to continuous improvement. Everyone at Hartnell College—faculty, staff, students, and the Board--is committed to ensuring that Hartnell is a better college today than it was yesterday, and that it will become even better tomorrow.
Thank you for your confidence and support.
