Registration for Concurrent Student

NOTE: K – 8 students MUST register using In-Person registration at Main Campus, East Campus, or the King City Education Center.

Concurrent Students enrolled in 9 – 12 grades may register using PAWS online registration or ASAP* telephone registration (831) 755-6755 provided that your approved Concurrent Enrollment form is submitted to Admissions & Records at Main Campus, East Campus, or the King City Education Center between June 1st – June 12th.

CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT STUDENTS (K - 12):


Important Note: By giving consent, parents of concurrently enrolled students agree they understand that the college is an adult learning environment and students are expected to behave accordingly. Additionally, they understand that classes will be taught at the college level and the curriculum and college procedures will not be modified nor will other accommodations be made.

STEP 1:
A) Complete and submit an Application for Admission Apply on-line at www.hartnell.edu, or complete the Application available in the Schedule of Classes and then mail, fax or drop it off to Admissions & Records.
STEP 2:
(If you are taking a course where there is NO prerequisite or corequisite, you may skip this step.)
Check for prerequisites for all your classes, additional information regarding prerequisite challenging is available. Submit official transcripts from high school and/or colleges attended to Admissions & Records at least two weeks before registering. See a counselor for a Prerequisite Clearance Form. Prerequisite Clearance Forms take two working days to process, so plan ahead!


STEP 3:
(This step is only required if NOT previously taken or if you have completed an English/ESL or Math course at Hartnell or another College. STAAR* Assessment is only valid for two years.)
A) If NOT enrolling in English/ESL or Math, proceed to 3B

B) If enrolling in an English/ESL course OR Math course, or math labs in these series, make an appointment AND complete the STAAR* Assessment. Call (831) 759-6054 for an appointment at least two weeks be-fore registering. (For other Math courses, see a counselor for a possible Prerequisite Clearance--bring high school and/or college transcripts with you.)


STEP 4:

You must have the completed Concurrent Enrollment form signed by the following individuals BEFORE you can register:

  1. Parent or guardian.
  2. School principal or his/her designee (often this is a high school counselor).
  3. A Hartnell College Counselor. (Hartnell Counselors will be available on a drop-in basis most afternoons/evenings.) Call (831) 755-6820 for available times.
If currently in grades K – 8, you will also need to see the Vice President of Student Services. (CAB-153)

STEP 5:

Submit the Approved Concurrent Enrollment Form and Prerequisite Clearance Form (if applicable) to Admissions & Records for permission to register. Since registration is based on a first-come; first-serve basis, all required forms should be submitted at least two working days before Concurrent Enrollment Student registration begins.


STEP 6:

Register for Classes - Registration for Concurrent Enrollment Students is generally available Monday through Thursday of the week BEFORE the semester begins. However, you should consult the current Schedule of Classes for specific dates. K – 8 students must register using In-Person registration. Concurrent Students enrolled in 9 – 12 grades may register by using:

  • PAWS FOR STUDENTS at www.hartnell.edu (system is available 6:00am – 10:00pm )
  • ASAP* Telephone Registration at (831) 755-6755 (system is available 6:00am – 10:00pm )
  • In the A&R Office at Main Campus, Alisal Campus, or the King City Center (available 9:00am – 7:00pm )
Students who wait to register once the semester has begun must attend the course in which they wish to register AND have an add card signed by the instructor. No registration for full semester courses will be accepted after the last day to register for a full semester course.

STEP 7:

Pay all registration fees at the Cashiers Office before the end of the second week of classes to avoid any holds placed on your record. Enrollment fees for concurrent enrollment students are waived. However, the $4.00 Hartnell Student Activities Fee MUST be paid each semester.

STEP 8: Student Activities - Obtain or update your Student ID Card. Present your receipt of payment to the ASHC Office HCC-101.


STEP 8:
Follow up with your counselor and/or check your eligibility for Special Student Services Programs. Make a follow-up appointment with a counselor by calling (831) 755-6820 early in the semester to check on your current progress and/or update your educational plan for future semesters.
