Registration for New College or New Transfer Student

July 16 – August 16, 2008 using PAWS online registration or ASAP Telephone registration (831) 755-6755. Students may register beginning July 16th provided the Admissions Application must be submitted by July 13th. Applications received after July 13th will be given a registration appointment at the time of submission of your application (usually the same day). The last day to pre-register is August 18, 2008


STEP 1:
A) Complete and submit an Application for Admission Apply on-line at www.hartnell.edu, or complete the Application available in the Schedule of Classes and then mail, fax or drop it off to Admissions & Records.

B) Apply NOW also for Financial Aid, if applicable. Apply on line at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ or complete the BOGW application in the schedule of classes and mail it in to the Financial Aid Office. Call Financial Aid at (831) 755-6806.

STEP 2:
(If you are taking a course where there is NO prerequisite or corequisite, you may skip this step.)
Check for prerequisites for all your classes, additional information regarding prerequisite challenging is available. Submit official transcripts from high school and/or colleges attended to Admissions & Records at least two weeks before registering. See a counselor for a Prerequisite Clearance Form. Prerequisite Clearance Forms may take two working days to process, so plan ahead!


STEP 3:
A) If NOT enrolling in English/ESL or Math, proceed to 3B

B) If enrolling in an English/ESL course OR Math course, or math labs in these series, make an appointment AND complete the STAAR* Assessment. Call (831) 759-6054 for an appointment at least two weeks be-fore registering. (For other Math courses, see a counselor for a possible Prerequisite Clearance--bring high school and/or college transcripts with you.)


STEP 4:
If enrolling in less than 6.0 units you may proceed to STEP 5.
Register and complete Counseling 21: Orientation to College. See the Counseling course offerings section for dates and times. Register for this course at the same time you are registering for your other courses. This is a requirement for students enrolling in 6.0 or more units.


STEP 5:
All students should schedule an appointment to meet with a counselor to discuss academic goals and develop an Educational Plan. Call (831) 755-6820 to schedule an appointment.

Bring copies of official transcripts from high school and/or colleges attended.


STEP 6:
(Register by using ASAP* Phone Reg. or PAWS On-line Reg., through the Thursday before the semester begins.)
Register online using P.A.W.S. or register by using ASAP* Telephone Registration at (831) 755-6755. Classes fill quickly so register as early as possible.


STEP 7:
Pay all registration fees at the Cashiers Office before the end of the first week of classes to avoid any holds placed on your record.


STEP 8:
Student Activities - Obtain or update your Student ID Card. Present your receipt of payment to the ASHC Office HCC-101.


STEP 9:
Follow up with your counselor and/or check your eligibility for Special Student Services Programs. Make a follow-up appointment with a counselor by calling (831) 755-6820 early in the semester to check on your current progress and/or update your educational plan for future semesters.
