Spring is in the Air

Hello there fellow future teachers of Hartnell College. We are so thankful to Denise Cook for starting such a wonderful program for us, and for keeping it her passion all these years! She is and always will be missed as part of the Center. We are still going and are in for some fun & educational activities this semester. Our Future Teachers Club, which is a part of the Center for Teacher Education, and helps you with educational experience, has gotten of to a great start! Thanks to all of you who have come out to participate. The Center is planning on having teacher workshops to enhance your educational journey through giving you knowledge that will prepare you and endure your success as a teacher of the future! We will have workshops on how to make a lesson plan, how to make a portfolio, and dealing with behavioral issues in children. We are also planning on participating in literacy programs in local elementary schools, to not only the experience reading to children, but also to advocate the importance of literacy in our youth. We also love to work side by side with the Child Development Center here on campus, as Linda Taylor is an amazing woman who devotes all her time to the success of children, and loves to encourage our student success as well. There are going to be CBEST preparation workshops available to students who are planning on taking the test on 4/12. Julia Mena, our new club advisor is going to lead those workshops, and is a wonderful attribute to us at future teachers.

We are also planning on taking a couple of trips to Universities, for those of us who are planning on transferring, so that we may see the campuses and get an idea of their services. Also if any of you need homework help, help with filling out scholarships, or any other questions that you may encounter during your time here at Hartnell, I am happy to hear from you and will help you in any way that I can. Since I am also on my path toward reaching my goals toward becoming a great teacher, we can relate to one another. All in all I want the Center to be a place that is like a “home”, for all of us in the “family” of teachers of tomorrow. Stop by any time! We are planning to have a lot of fun this semester, so stop by the Center, We are located in the Academic Learning Center, opposite the Learning Labs, Just ask the clerks to speak with Sarah Aguilar, I will be happy to talk with you, and to assist you in any way possible. You may also call the Center at (831) 755-6796 or reach me by e-mail : sergio4creepy4@aol.com.
