California Basic Educational Skills Test
(CBEST)




If you are applying for a first teaching credential, a services credential or thinking of being a day-to-day substitute, you are required to take and pass the CBEST. The CBEST assesses basic proficiency in reading, writing and mathematics.

The Center for Teacher Education helps you prepare for the CBEST. Our Preparation Dates are:

We are now offering CBEST preparation classes! These sections are offered on a Friday & Saturday so that they may fit into your busy schedule. Reading & Writing is offered on 4/4, from 9am-1p for $45 & Math review is offered on 4/5, from 9a-1p for $45. The good news is that if you are taking both, you can cut the cost, for both tests it is just $75 ! There is also a required CBEST preparation book “cracking the CBEST” which is available for your purchase in the Hartnell College Bookstore. If you are unable to afford these classes please contact the Center for information (831) 755-6796. Please buy the book in advance.
