Philosophy As stated in the Hartnell College Mission Statement, the college provides leadership to prepare our students for productive participation in a changing world. Consistent with this statement, the Center for International/Intercultural Education will be a vehicle to promote international and intercultural understanding and relationships to our college community.
To give life to the statement of philosophy written above, the Center for International/ Intercultural Education will provide leadership, promote and develop:
- International Business by coordinating and participating in International Business Forums and Activities.
- Effective recruitment of international students to Hartnell College from Asian, Latin American, African and European countries.
- Study Abroad by Hartnell College students, through promotion of available and suitable study abroad programs.
- Hartnell College Faculty, Staff, and Student Exchanges, particularly those with sister cities and sister colleges.
- Associate degrees in International Business and International Relations and articulation agreements with four-year colleges who offer baccalaureate degrees in these disciplines.
- Faculty training that would assist those who are interested in internationalizing curriculum.
- To obtain funds to hire a grant writing consultant.
- To submit grant proposals to multiple resources to secure funding of the Center for the International/Intercultural Education by the end of Spring Semester 2001.
- To hire staff as specified in grant by Fall 2001.
- To begin program implementation by November 1, 2001.
- To evaluate progress made by June, 2002.
