eCampus provides support for your online courses.  You can look up procedures, access forms, get technical support for eCollege, or sign up for training.

Getting Started with Online Instruction
Start putting materials online to experiment with using them in your face to face classes by requesting a course shell.  Make an appointment with the Instructional Technologists to learn how to use the shell or attend one of our training sessions.  Take another instructor’s online class to see how he or she uses the shell and course management system.  You can also pursue professional development opportunities in distance education programs.

The Curriculum Process

All courses must be approved by the curriculum committee to be taught online.  There can be no changes to the number of times classes meet in person until the curriculum committee has approved an online version and/or hybrid version of the course.  For existing courses, a course revision needs to be filed and approved.  For completely new courses, it is a good idea to have both a face-to-face version and on online version approved at the same time.  If you have any questions or need assistance with curriculum forms, you can meet with the director of Distance Education in addition to your department Dean.

Course Development Stipends
The Distance Education Pilot Review Committee has developed an application process and these forms for requesting these course development funds are linked on the left.

The DEPR Committee strongly encourages faculty to apply for these funds.  Each faculty applicant is eligible to receive up to $1200 for new online course development.

Please contact Denise Cook, Director of Campus Learning Resources and Distance/Online Learning, if you have any questions about the process or need assistance, x6048 or dcook@hartnell.edu.
