This course covers the history and philosophy of administration of justice as it evolved throughout the world. It involves the in-depth study of the American system and the various sub-systems; study of the roles and role expectations of criminal justice agents in their interrelationships in society; study of the concepts of crime causation, punishment and rehabilitation; and study of ethics, education and training for professionalism in the social system. This course is required for the major and may be offered in the web-based format. The orientation is optional.

Administration of Justice 3 - Concepts of Criminal Law

Provides the student with a comprehensive understanding of the provisions of criminal law. Content includes the elements of and defenses to all major crimes. This course may be offered in the web-based format. The course focuses in particular on the trial process and classifications of evidence. A complete overview is offered of legal issues in criminal evidence such as admissibility, competency, constitutional protections and the burden of proof. Also covered are general considerations in evidence such as the trial record, impeachment, privilege, judicial notice and expert testimony. Anthropology 1 - Introduction to Anthropology: Physical

This course offers a survey of the evolution of mankind. It is designed to provide an introduction to the theory, principles and methodology employed to comprehend the process of evolution by emphasizing a bio-cultural approach to the discipline in order to understand the nature of our physical and cultural transformations. As such, it is a course that discusses the field of genetics and primate studies to analyze the origin of many of our biological and social characteristics. It then overviews the data pertaining to the environmental factors that forced our ancestors to produce culture and concludes by analyzing the paleoanthropological evidence that supports the theory of human evolution.

Anthropology 2 - Introduction to Anthropology: Cultural

A survey of the range of cultural phenomena including language, patterns of subsistence, economic organization, marriage and the family, kinship, political organization, religion, the arts, and culture change. Methodology, concepts, and theories will be presented in the development of an anthropological perspective.

The study of the behavior of individuals and groups in organizations for the purpose of satisfying both organizational goals and personal goals. CSS 15 -Introduction to E-Commerce

Introduction to key issues and strategies for e-commerce planning. Includes examining the concepts and types of e-commerce, examining methods for effective e-commerce solutions, describing the e-commerce development process, creating a business case for an e-commerce solution, specifying functional requirements for an e-commerce solution, specifying technical requirements for an e-commerce solution managing online content, and key issues in designing for international audiences. An overview of the computer information systems, languages, computer applications and the role of computers in the evolution of an information-based society. Topics include computer terminology, application programs, email, networks, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, the Internet, using and evaluating information from electronic sources and conducting library research online. Formerly CIS-11. Not open to students with credit for CIS-48, BUS-48, BUS-39.009 or CIS 39.009. This course may be offered in a web-based format.

Includes exploration of visible and invisible Web resources, online research strategies, information competency, Web authoring, cyber ethics, and emerging Internet technologies.  A beginning course that focuses on the basics of Macromedia's Dreamweaver. The course will focus on the basics of the Dreamweaver program and its versatile uses. Subjects to be covered are web site design, content creation, editing and maintaining websites.

CSS 126.02 - Intermediate DreamWeaver

An intermediate course that focuses on the creation of professional web projects using Macromedia's Dreamweaver and related components. The course will focus on the student's use of Dreamweaver and its accompanying components to construct complex web projects for the Internet. Subjects to be covered are advanced web site design, Java scripting, basic chat room, bulletin board, guest book, and other complex components of Dreamweaver. Prerequisite: CSS-126.01

A beginning course that focuses on the creation of Flash websites, movies and instruction. The course will focus on the beginning skills necessary for the effective use of Macromedia's Flash. Subjects to be covered are vector-based graphics, interactivity design, and basic animation techniques.

CSS 126.04 -Intermediate Flash

An intermediate course that will focus on the creation of Flash audio and video players, interactive media and movies. The course will focus on the intermediate skill necessary for the effective use of Macromedia's Flash. Subjects to be covered are animation, action scripting, audio, video, templates and other complex ideas using flash. Prerequisite: CSS-126.03

ENG 1B - College Literature & Comp.

English 1B is an introductory literature survey course that focuses on reading and writing about four basic literary genres: drama, poetry, short story, and the novel. The course provides instruction and practice in critical thinking and forming literature based arguments. This course introduces the major schools of literary and cultural theory common to study in the humanities. Students will write a total of 6,000 words including essays, journals, and homework assignments. Online students taking this course are advised that they must have basic computer skills for operating a word processing program, a spreadsheet program and email, including sending attachments and files. Introduces students to the functions and duties of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT). Any student considering work within the clinical laboratory would need this course before entering any clinical courses described in the medical laboratory technician program.
