Approach
Process:
The instructor will introduce the basics of each new chapter after you have read the chapter and attempted a few simple examples of that chapter. Remember you will learn these chapters by reading the chapter and "doing" the work. Once you have read, and attempted the new information it will be review and corrected in class, and some additional, more complex, assignments will be completed and reviewed. The next class period will be used to review and correct these additional assignments. Once the assignments have been reviewed, questions have been asked and all processes are clear to the student, the student will then prepare for a quiz on the chapter.
Due Dates:
It is expected that all class assignments will be completed before the class meeting on the date they appear on the schedule. The assignment sheet is furnished for the student. In the event that a class meeting is not held for any reason, the student is expected to continue working on the assignments as scheduled.
Form:
Please do your work legibly in pencil. The student should be able to purchase working papers for this text, but ruled paper, six or ten column accounting paper is also acceptable. You are encouraged to take advantage of the computer labs, especially the Business 2 computerized accounting support class, to do your homework on the computer. Computer homework is acceptable in this class and students are encouraged to learn to do financial procedures on the computer.
For your information, the Business 2 Computerized Accounting Lab does about 50% of the required homework on the computer.

Participation:
Class participation will include students answering questions and exercises verbally and on the board. If you are absent or unprepared on a discussion day it will be noted and it could affect your grade.
Correction:
Each student is responsible for the accuracy of his/her homework solutions. The assignments will be reviewed in class at which time the student will have the opportunity to correct their assignments in red or blue pencil, or pen. Remember a red or blue pencil or pen is a requirement of this class.
The number of corrections is only an indication of a problem area the student must do some additional work.

Collection:
Completed assignments are due at the beginning of each class period. Throughout the semester, random homework will be collected from each chapter. Each homework assignment collected will be worth five (5) points and graded on a scale of one to five. Right or Wrong will not be the criteria for the full five points, but quality of effort and quality of correction in red or blue will earn the student full credit. These collected homework are part of your grade so copying from the board in anything other than red or blue pencil or pen is considered "cheating" for a grade. Cheating will result in a zero (0) on the homework.
