ENTP - Emergency Nurse Training Program
Introduction
The Emergency Nurse Training Program prepares the RN or new graduate nurse to function as a basic clinical nurse in the emergency department.
Course Description
Nurses will get 126 hours of classroom instruction (over 16 weeks) plus, 20 hours of clinical laboratory instruction plus, 485 hours of clinical practicum in an emergency department setting and 32 hours of hands on simulation training.
Course Objectives
At the completion of this course, the nurse using the nursing process, will be able to:
1. Perform clinically as an entry level
emergency nurse.
2. Accurately assess the emergent patient.
3. Appropriately implement nursing care of
the emergency patient.
4. Assist with common emergency
department procedures.
5. Communicate effectively with the
local EMS agency.
6. Demonstrate care for the diverse
patient population with multiple health
care needs ? age related.

Grading Procedures
To successfully complete this course the nurse attend the online interactive course each week. Pass 3 quizzes, attend 2 of the 4 hands on training sessions and must achieve a minimum score of 80 at the end of instruction based on a 100 point final.
Class Policies
1. The nurse cannot not miss more than 2
consecutive sessions. On the 3rd missed
session the nurse will automatically be
dropped from the course.
2. Only 2 (missed) sessions may be viewed
via the on-line archive. Instructions
and access to view archived sessions
will be given by the instructor.
3. If the nurse must miss a class, email
notification to the instructor @
juliet_rhorc@yahoo.com and jatkins@
hartnell.edu prior to the
absence.
4. The nurse is encouraged to join the on-
line session 15 minutes prior to the
start of each session.
