Course Learning Outcomes:

The student will:

  1. evaluate the scope and level of information needed.
  2. identify and locate available materials and services.
  3. formulate context-based search strategies.
  4. utilize available sources to retrieve relevant information.
  5. interpret and evaluate the retrieved information.
  6. organize the information for effective use.
  7. cite and arrange the information in a standard format.

Week 1: Getting Started

This week we will begin by reading chapters one and eight in the textbook, explore the following tutorials, and complete our first assignment. This will allow us to fulfill learning outcomes 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Week 2: The Online Catalog

This week we will read chapters two and three in the textbook, explore the following tutorials, and complete a short assignment. This will allow us to fulfill learning outcomes 2, 3, and 4.
