"Inspiring "Transitions", the theme of the 2002 event, expressed the many opportunities provided through continuing education and the positive effect it has in changing one's life.

The Transfer Day program, held from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., is designed for students at Hartnell College who are preparing to transfer to four-year colleges or universities. Parents and students attend the college Night, 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., from our district's eighteen high schools, as they prepare to continue their education after graduation.

"The event's philosophy is to inspire and prepare students and their parents fro the transition that comes when the student enters college. Transfer Day/College Night is always well-attended and is an event that parents, as well as students throughout the Salinas Valley look forward to each year," explains Ruth McMullen, Director of Counseling, Matriculation & Transfer Services.

With over 70 college and universities representatives slated to attend, including Hawaii Pacific University, UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, CSU-Fresno, San Jose State University and College of Notre Dame, and workshops on financial aid, Application for Scholarships, and services programs for Students with Disabilities, the event easily surpassed the previous years' attendance.
