Friday Evening Public Star Shows
Start your weekend out by taking in a star show
at the J. Frederic Ching Planetarium at Hartnell
College . Enjoy exciting full dome immersive imagery
and the relaxing sight of a starry night sky as produced
by the Konica Minolta Mediaglobe. Our programs serve
to inform and entertain curious minds of all ages.

2 nd Annual Hartnell/Alisal Union
Family Science and Health Day
Be sure to join us at the Hartnell campus on Saturday,
April 26 th for this unique and exciting experience!
Co-sponsored by Hartnell College and
the Alisal Union School District , this free event
will feature various exhibits, workshops and demonstrations.
Take advantage of this opportunity to explore the sciences
and healthful living, all in a family friendly environment.
The Merrill Hall Science Building will be the center
of activity as you explore worlds from Astronomy
to Zoology, and everything in between.
Whether you're interested in Physics, Biology,
Math or Geology, you'll be amazed by what you
see, and also by what you do in hands on activities.
There will be continuous free star shows in the
planetarium, as well as ongoing fine arts performances
in our outdoor amphitheater. Arrive early, pick up
a schedule and enjoy this excellent community event.
Healthy food and snacks will be available for purchase.

“Future Moon” and “Origins of Life”
First, we'll take a look back at our moon's explosive
beginnings, relive the thrilling adventure of the Apollo
missions, and then prepare for the awesome
possibilities of future development on Earth's
closest neighbor. Then, with the help of immersive
full dome visualizations, “Origins of Life” looks back
at the history of life on our planet, and forward,
to the tantalizing search for life elsewhere
in the universe.

The popular and acclaimed local rock band
"Cheeky Spanks" returns to play live, under the
stars in the Planetarium for two out-of this-world
shows on Saturday June 28th. If you missed their
earlier sold out performances in the planetarium,
here's your chance to get experienced. "Cheeky"
will rip through some of the greatest hits of legendary
60's groups such as the Doors, the Stones,
Janis Joplin, Cream, Hendrix, Santana and more.
Accompanied by a full-dome, space-a-delic 3D
light show and with the impeccable acoustics
of the planetarium, Rocking the Stars will be a
sound and light spectacle not to be missed!

Rent the Stars
The planetarium is available on a limited basis
for party rentals. Our basic 2-hour party
package includes an hour-long planetarium
program and the additional use of a reception
room for food and refreshments, all for $225.
Children's parties are limited to no more than
25 guests, and there must be active adult
supervision at the rate of one assigned adult for
every 5 children. Take advantage of this unique
venue for your next party, meeting, or special
event. Longer rentals and custom presentations
are possible for an additional charge. Available
times are limited. Please call to make
arrangements as far in advance as possible.

School and Summer Camp Shows

Teachers, expand your students'
learning experience with a field trip to
our planetarium. Our star theater has
comfortable seating for 45 people, with an
absolute maximum capacity of 60, including
chaperones. You must arrange additional
showings to accommodate groups larger
than 60.
We offer age appropriate programming
for all grade levels, from pre-schoolers
on up. A sky tour by a live presenter
supplements information in entertaining
and informative prerecorded shows.
Custom presentations and additional activities
can be added with prior arrangement.

and 11am on most Mondays, Thursdays
and Fridays through May 30 th .

Other slots may be made available by special request.
If you are interested in bringing a camp
or school group to the planetarium during
the summer, we are making two weeks in
July available for programs. Mark your calendar
for July 14 th –18 th and the 21 st – 25 th .
We will try to schedule these show at your
convenience, so please have a time or two
in mind for a particular date before you call.

Fees
Cost for our school program is as follows:
$120 for 45 minutes (Pre-school and Kindergarten)
$135 for 55 minutes (Grades 1 – 3)
$135 for 60 minutes (Grades 4 and up)
Interested in looking through a large telescope?
For a fun Fall astronomy adventure, attend a public
night at the nearby Fremont Peak Observatory.
They are open most Saturday evenings.
