Cheeky Spanks Returns with "Stairway to the Stars - A Tribute to Led Zeppelin" - Saturday, January 26th, 2013
Monterey County's favorite rock band returns to rock the planetarium with a set of live music
and cool visuals featuring songs of the legendary Led Zeppelin. Separate shows at 2 and 4:30pm.
NOTE: as of 1/16/13 the 4:30 show is SOLD OUT. We have added a 7pm show. Call to reserve now.

Music returns to the Planetarium with "Steppin' Out Under the Stars" - Saturday, April 20th, 2013
A Live Concert for Families featuring Classic Rock and Other Hits
The musical duo Steppin' Out comes to the planetarium to provide some lively family entertainment.
Steppin' Out features Robert McNamara on guitar and Chris Hart on bass and vocals. Separate shows at 2 and 5pm.
Share the fun of live music with your kids at the planetarium. Rock out as cool visuals play out above you.

Family Science and Health Day - Saturday, May 18, 2013

Teacher Workshop on "Multicultural Astronomy in the Classroom" - Friday, July 12th, 2013, 10am - 4pm
A Professional Development Opportunity for Teachers
Explore activities and resources about the astronomical heritage of cultures from around the world.
This workshop will help expand your knowledge about the contributions of non-European cultures and provide you
with additional take home lessons and materials that you can put to use in your classroom.
Event sponsored by the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, College of San Mateo and Hartnell College.

Pinnacles Star Viewing Events
In partnership with Pinnacles National Park, we give you a unique
opportunity to see and appreciate the stars under beautiful dark skies.
Due to staffing changes at the Pinnacles, this program is currently on hold.
We hope to offer these programs again soon. In the meantime, check out the.
Salinas Observatory, conveniently located on the Salinas High School campus.

Rent the Stars

Make your own special event!

The planetarium is available on a limited basis

for party rentals. Our basic 2-hour party

package includes an hour-long planetarium

program and the additional use of a reception

room for food and refreshments, all for $225.

Children's parties are limited to no more than

25 guests, and there must be active adult

supervision at the rate of one assigned adult for

every 5 children. Take advantage of this unique

venue for your next party, meeting, or special

event. Longer rentals and custom presentations

are possible for an additional charge. Available

times are limited. Please call to make

arrangements as far in advance as possible.

Fremont Peak Observatory


Interested in looking through a large telescope?

Returning in the Spring, you can attend a public

night at the nearby Fremont Peak Observatory.

They are open most Saturday evenings.
