HOW TO APPLY FOR STAFF DEVELOPMENT FUNDING
During 2006-07, the State allocated one-time monies to Hartnell to support Staff and Professional Development. - Improvement of teaching
- Maintenance of current academic and technical knowledge and skills
- In-service training for vocational education and employment preparation programs
- Retraining to meet changing institutional needs
- Intersegmental exchange programs
- Development of innovations in instructional and administrative techniques and program effectiveness
- Computer and technological proficiency programs
- Courses and training implementing affirmative action and upward mobility programs
- Programs designed to develop self-esteem
The Application Process
- An Application for Staff Development Funding is available from the link above or in the Human Resources and Equal Employment Opportunity Office. Completed applications must be submitted to Human Resources by 5:00 on the deadline as noted below.
- Individual projects involving travel and conference attendance should first be presented to the appropriate Area Dean or Manager for possible departmental funding.
- Fill in the form completely and be concise and thorough in describing the activity, objectives, evaluation, etc. This information is intended to provide a full understanding of the activity and to assure consistent application of criteria in approving and funding individual projects.
- The Staff Development Committee will review each proposal to determine proposal merit and to determine the appropriate funding source.
- If your activity is funded, a written evaluation report must be submitted to the Staff Development Committee within 30 days of activity completion. If a report is not submitted, the Staff Development Committee will not fund the employee for 12 months following the date of the unreported activity.
