Cooperative Work Experience Education Program
How do I enroll?
Step #1 - Call or stop by the Career Center Merrill 3 to sign up for an Orientation or complete the Online Orientation.
Step #2 - Enroll or add the appropriate Co-Op class.
** WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU ATTEND AN ORIENTATION SESSION OR MEET WITH A CO-OP REPRESENTATIVE TO DETERMINE WHICH CLASS YOU SHOULD ENROLL IN**
The Orientation will cover choosing the appropriate Co-Op class, how to enroll, and what you will do during the semester to earn your units.
Step #2 - Enroll or add the appropriate Co-Op class.
There are three different types Co-Op classes you can enroll in:
General Work Experience - is designed for students exploring careers who have a job in a field NOT related to their major. Students establish learning objectives to develop their careers and acquire general work place competencies such as interpersonal skills, critical thinking, self-management, and resource utilization.
Occupational Work Experience - is designed for students employed in a field related to their major or career goals. Students establish learning objectives that extend classroom-based instruction to on-the-job training that aid in advancement in careers of their choice through skills development and increased responsibilities.
Internship Work Experience - is designed for students who have decided on a major, have taken classes in their major, and are ready for on-the-job experience through a network of employers, the program matches students with work experience in their chosen field.
Occupational Work Experience - is designed for students employed in a field related to their major or career goals.
