STEP 1
Review the STAAR calendar to find a testing time that works for you. Allow two hours to complete the assessment.

STEP 2
No appointment is needed.  Go to the Assessment Center located in CAB 167A on the day when they are testing (Visit the calendar here) inside the Financial Aid Office.  Students wanting an appointment must call (831)759-6054.  Appointments will be made for students coming from a distance or for students with work or child care issues.  Every effort will be made to accommodate students.

STEP 3
Arrive at the Hartnell College Assessment Center with your Student ID number or Social Security number.  (Student ID numbers are assigned to students at Admissions and Records.) Photo ID is required at the time of the assessment, Students without photo ID will not be able to take the assessment.

The Assessment Center provides year-round testing services.  In the Spring, we offer testing services for prospective students at local high schools and current students at Hartnell College. The College's matriculation plan requires that all students taking English, math, English as a Second Language (ESL), six units or more and/or pursuing a certificate or degree must be accessed.

When a student knows their English and math skill levels, they can enroll in the appropriate course, thus increasing their probability of academic success.
