Registering for Counseling 21

Who should participate in Counseling 21:Orientation?

All new, returning, and transfer students should enroll in Counseling 21 (Student Skills for Success: Orientation) during the first semester at Hartnell College. Counseling 21 is designed to acquaint students with Hartnell College's policies, procedures, and academic requirements. Counseling courses are listed alphabetically in the current Schedule of Classes.

Am I exempt from Orientation? Or, Am I exempt from Counseling/Advisement Services?

Students may be exempt from Orientation or Counseling/Advisement if they:
  • Completed Counseling 21 orientation course.
  • Have earned an Associate or more advanced degree.
  • Plan to enroll in less than six units and their academic goal is personal interest.
  • Are enrolled in and have received orientation services at another college or university.
  • Counseling 21 Challenge Exam.

  • Students who meet any of the above exemption criteria must see a Hartnell Counselor for the Prerequisite Clearance Form. Prerequisite Clearance Forms take 2 working days to process so plan ahead!

    Exempted students may participate in orientation or counseling services if they so choose.
