The Employees for Student Success program rallied Hartnell College employees at a breakfast for managers on Jan. 9 (pictured) and in a presentation at the Student Success Conference on Jan. 10.

More than 200 faculty and staff participate in the effort, and they contributed more than $120,000 in 2018. That support goes for student scholarships, a student emergency fund and other areas of high need to help put "Students First" at Hartnell.

The goal for 2019 is to have 225 participating donors and total giving of at least $125,000.

In her presentation at the conference, Vice President of Advancement and Development Jackie Cruz reminded her audience in the Main Stage Theater that a monthly payroll deduction of just $20 a month – equivalent to a movie for two – generates enough to purchase one or more textbooks and supplies for one student.
