Programs Included in the Common Application

CalWORKs

A federal, state, and county-funded program serving low-income students receiving cash aid and parenting at least one child under the age of 18 with academic counseling, work study, and referrals to on-campus and community organizations.

CARE

The Cooperative Agencies Resource for Education program is within EOPS and provides EOPS students who are single parents receiving cash aid with additional financial assistance, including grants, book credits, and meal vouchers.

The Department of Supportive Programs and Services (DSPS) provides confidential services, accommodations and education assistance courses for students with verified disabilities as they work toward their educational or vocational goals.

EOPS

The Extended Opportunity Program and Services is a state-funded program that advances student equity by providing personalized academic counseling, financial assistance, including book credits, and grants.

Foster Youth Success Services

This program provides wraparound support to people who are/were impacted by the child welfare system. This includes people who were adopted, in guardianship, emancipated, or aged out of the child welfare system.

UC Santa Cruz Transfer Pathway & Panther Otter Program (POP)

Designed to support the transfer of students from Hartnell College to CSU Monterey Bay or UC Santa Cruz. Support includes transfer workshops, college application assistance, cohort activities, access to both campuses, and ultimately transfer!

LGBTQIA+

The LGBTQIA+ support service strives to build an inclusive campus that affirms and empowers LGBTQIA+ students through educational opportunities, intersectional support services, and building a sense of belonging.

MESA

A state-funded learning community that supports first-generation and economically disadvantaged students in the calculus based STEM Transfer Pipeline with tutoring, workshops, counseling, professional development, STEM competitions and conferences and more.

Mi CASA

The Mi Casa program offers services (grants, book credit, and gas cards) for the undocumented student population, which includes individuals without legal status, those with work authorization (DACA) and students eligible for AB 540, AB 130 and AB 131.

Rising Scholars

This is a voluntary program for students who have been system impacted or formerly incarcerated in a juvenile or adult facility with access to counseling, book credit, school supplies, transportation assistance, and more.

Salinas Valley Promise

The Salinas Valley Promise program combines instructional excellence with professional guidance, leadership development, life-skills training & scholarship. Students pay zero in-state tuition as a first-time, full-time student (12 units per semester), regardless of family income. ONLY OPEN TO FIRST-TIME college students.

Provides and connects students to essential services relating to food, stable housing, financial stability, and wellness security.

TRIO SSS

This program offers a relationship rich intensive counseling experience for first gen. students over 2-3 years until the student graduates and transfers to a 4-year university. Services include a 5 day orientation, counseling, career & personal counseling, and a support home for students.

Our UMOJA program provides community & critical resource dedicated to enhancing the cultural and educational experiences of African American and other students; our aim is to help students navigate the college environment in a culturally competent manner.

The Veteran Services Center offers counseling, VA (Veteran Affairs) benefits and certification guidance, and an open lab.
