Hartnell Baseball started its 2019 campaign on Jan. 25 with a 7-3 road win over San Francisco City. First baseman Chris Wright had a solid freshman debut at the plate, with a home run and four RBIs. Pitcher Ubaldo Romo earned the victory on the mound. Hosting San Francisco City on Jan. 26, Hartnell came up short, 2-5. The Panthers will travel to West Valley College on Jan. 29, then complete a three-day home series against Redwoods, beginning at 2 p.m. on Feb. 1 followed by a doubleheader on Feb. 2, with games at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

In basketball action at Monterey Peninsula College on Jan. 25, the men’s team won big, 91-65, while the women suffered a setback, 40-60. There are only two more chances to see the two squads in action on their home court – on Jan. 30 against De Anza and on Feb. 1 against Gavilan.
