Former Hartnell and King City High School distance standout Eduardo Orozco won his first race for the Alaska-Anchorage men’s track and field team, the Monterey County Herald reported .

The junior won the 800 meters in 1 minute, 57.91 seconds at the University of Washington Indoor Preview Meet on Jan. 12 in Seattle.

Last spring Orozco clocked the 10th fastest time in school history in the mile (4:23.69), and was seventh at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championships in the 800.

Orozco earned All-American honors in track at Hartnell, and was a four-time all-conference selection in track and cross country.
