SALINAS, Calif. – The Hartnell Community College District is welcoming Italian musicians Francesco Attesti, Matteo Galli and Lorenzo Iosco for teaching and performances that culminate in a free concert on Feb. 21.

 

This is the seventh time Attesti and Galli have visited and performed at Hartnell College. Attesti, from Cortona, Italy, is a pianist of international acclaim. Galli, from Milan, is the chief organist at local basilicas in his hometown. Iosco, a clarinetist, is a former clarinet player for the London Symphony Orchestra and currently a member of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.

 

The three will present a free concert for the entire community at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 in the Mainstage Theater of the Center for Performing Arts, Building K, at Hartnell College, 411 Central Ave. Doors open at 6 p.m.

 

They will be joined for part of their public performance by musicians from the Youth Orchestra Salinas (YOSAL), with Iosco serving as a guest conductor.

In addition to the free community concert, on Feb. 19-20, the performers gave matinée performances for more than 1,500 Salinas City Elementary School District fourth-and fifth-graders, and also presented a master class and visited music classes at Hartnell.
