Priority registration is underway for Fall 2022 preschool at the Hartnell College
Child Development Center, which remains free to most families. Morning sessions are
from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and afternoon sessions are 12:30-3:30 p.m.
The center, on Hartnell’s Main Campus in Salinas, provides an individualized, play-based learning experience for children who are almost 3 up to 5 years old. Teachers support children’s curiosity and promote respectful relationships in a rich indoor and outdoor environment, said Anne Adamson, director of the center and the Early Childhood Education program at Hartnell College.
Registration packets can be requested by calling (831) 755-6945 or by email to cdc@hartnell.edu. Children who will be at least 3 on or before Dec. 2 are eligible. The Fall 2022 session begins Aug. 15.
Hartnell’s center is a laboratory school, which has full-time master teachers and a staff of college student interns and student workers. It maintains the highest possible rating from Quality Matters of Monterey County, which evaluates local child care providers in staff training, positive teacher-child interactions and teacher-to-child ratio.
