Hartnell track and field coach Christopher Zepeda on Jan. 26 opened a three-Saturday clinic for middle school athletes that will continue with sessions on Feb. 2 and Feb. 9.

About 15 participants attended the first clinic at the Hartnell track, working on such skills as relay baton handoffs, starting a sprint and landing a long jump. All three clinics include technical skill, conditioning and practice.

Zepeda said the clinics help athletes prepare for the spring season and gives him and his coaches an early look at youngsters who might be recruitment prospects in a few years.

The remaining sessions are $25 each. For information, call Zepeda at (831) 755-6845. Register at: www.hartnellpanthers.com/camps/camps-list
