On March 13, 2015 students from Hartnell College participated in the Naval Postgraduate School Speed Dating Event.

The students participated in the event as part of a process designed to match potential interns (students from Hartnell College) with their potential mentors in preparation for a summer internship at NPS.

The students are initially designated an initial mentor (or two) who will be conducting the first interview.  When everyone is in place the students then spend about 15 minutes talking with their potential mentors about projects the students could participate in over the summer.  After 15 minutes has elapsed the students then move to a new mentor(s) in much the same way a "round robin" or "speed dating" event takes place.  After all the students have been interviewed by all the mentors the students and mentors then privately rank each other on whom they believe would be the best fit over the summer.  After this is completed project coordinators discuss the results and match students, mentors, and projects.

This years event was considered a great success with the students and mentors both being excited and engaged during the event.

Also of special interest, several Hartnell College Graduates were also in attendance during the event, some of them providing testimonials related to their own professional development through internships.
