The Hartnell Theatre & Cinema Program invites the campus and greater communities to its Fall 2018 production of “Ubu Roi.” Originally written by Alfred Jarry, the play is an absurdist adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” and prompted riots in the theatre when first produced in 1896. The students have adapted the play to suit the current national political climate, said Dr. Marnie Glazier, lead faculty for Theatre & Cinema.
This all-student production is sure to make you laugh and features a talented group of student writers, designers, actors and producers. The show has been entered into this year's Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, and a festival judge will attend the Dec. 7 performance.
The shows are: 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7-8, Studio Theatre (K 116), and 2 p.m. Dec. 9 at the MCAET Blackbox Theatre at the Monterey County Office of Education, 901 Blanco Circle, Salinas. A $5 donation is suggested. Contact mglazier@hartnell.edu for more information.
