The Office of Institutional Advancement is home to the Hartnell College Foundation, which seeks and manages funding from private sources, and the college's public grants development department. Both serve the mission of the college and champion student success by cultivating resources and encouraging innovation. The primary purpose of this section of the Hartnell website is to outline the function of the public grants development department, indicate the institutional process for the submission of grant proposals, and provide internal and external grant-related resources.
Here is a brief list of the services that the Office of Advancement provides:
What We Do
- Facilitate grant development and provide technical assistance for the electronic submission of grant applications.
- Ensure proposals align with and support the strategic goals of the District.
- Assist faculty and staff in identifying and securing extramural funding, as applicable.
- Review sponsor program guidelines and advise project lead(s)/principal investigator(s) on proposal requirements, including internal deadlines.
- Obtain institutional support for and approval of proposals.
- Proposal project management, including team formation, concept refinement, timeline development, and facilitation/support of team meetings.
- Assist with the development of budgets and budget justifications, in collaboration with the Business Office.
- With adequate lead time, complete proposal review, including copy editing, content-based feedback, and analysis of compliance with sponsor guidelines.
- Proposal submission, including required forms and suggested documentation.
