SALINAS, Calif. - The Sociology Department and the Office of Student Life at Hartnell College welcomes Salinas Police Department Chief Kelly McMillin on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Steinbeck Hall located inside the Student Center at the main campus at 411 Central Avenue, Salinas, CA.
The Washington Post magazine recently interviewed Chief McMillin in an article titled "Ferguson Could Have Been Salinas, Here's Why it Wasn't." The Sociology Department at Hartnell College has invited Chief McMillin to speak on this and other topics of interest to our local community.
During the academic year, the Sociology department will host a Speaker Series, bringing special presenters to Hartnell. These talks provide an opportunity for faculty, students, and Hartnell campus community to engage in discussions on a range of social issues. Chief McMillin will be the first guest in the 2014-2015 Speaker Series.
