Hartnell College introduces an APP to enhance student access

SALINAS, Calif.   –  The Information Technology Resources (ITR) Department at Hartnell Community College District is happy to announce the launch of a new Mobile App  that will provide a modern platform to deliver learning tools, campus services, and notifications directly to students via their smartphone.

“Today's learners demand more flexibility with their learning platforms, preferring to use tablets or smartphones for their Internet access,” said Vice President of ITR, Dave Phillips. “Students expect less text and verbal content when accessing web services, and prefer  quick access to registration, learning content, grades, and course materials, which only a mobile app can provide.”

Students can register for classes faster, view their schedule information, view their transcript, and easily contact faculty and staff directly through the app. The app is integrated with Hartnell’s online learning management system, Canvas, allowing for faster class participation. Faculty can access their rosters, contact other faculty, as well as interact with the Canvas app.

New features will be added to the application each academic year based on feedback from our students, staff, and faculty, ensuring to adhere to the strategic goals of student access and student success.

Some of the features the mobile application delivers include:

Registration                              Counseling appointments          Department information

Courses                                    Notifications                               Maps

Grades                                      Library                                       Faculty/Staff directory

Account balance                      Bookstore                                   Social media

Students and faculty will no longer need to boot up a laptop to visit PAWS, as they can perform the same functions in the mobile app, with a modern, user-friendly interface that today's users expect.

More information and instructions for installing the application are available at  hartnell.edu/mobile .
