Hartnell College receives $200K donation towards Capital Campaign
SALINAS, Calif. – Hartnell Community College District and the Hartnell College Foundation are happy to announce the gift totaling $200,000 from an anonymous donor in support of the Capital Campaign for the Center for Performing Arts – Building K at 411 Central Avenue, Salinas, CA.
This is the second large gift to the campaign in the past 3 months. To-date, the Foundation has raised over $1,443,000 towards the $1,500,000 renovation goal for the Center for Performing Arts. The anonymous donor is a longtime supporter of the arts in Monterey County. Transformation gifts such as this affirm the vital role of arts in the Salinas Valley. This project will give our community a place to celebrate culture and community, while providing a facility that is welcoming and safe.
“This Capital Campaign is about so much more than just a building; it is an opportunity to engage the community, build culture and pride, and invest in enriching experiences for youth,” said Karen Hagman, Director of Philanthropy for the Hartnell College Foundation.
Hartnell launched the Capital Campaign in May 2014 to offer the Salinas Valley a facility that mirrors the excellence within its artistic productions and programs to thus engage in arts and culture. The upgrades will include a new box office, an enhanced community atrium, a new art gallery area, and infrastructure upgrades to the front of the Center for Performing Arts.
The leadership of the Theatre Arts and Arts Councils, has been invaluable. Support for this Capital Campaign has also come from: Anonymous, Sally Hughes Church Foundation, Joanne Taylor Johnson (in honor of Sally Hughes Church), Massey Family, Nicholas M. Pasculli, Shari Selover & Lance Fors, Patricia Donohue, Jean Hurd, Mimi & George Niesen, David Warner, SSB Construction, Winoma & Greg Plaskett, Pat Horsley, Judy Sulsona, and Robert & Elizabeth Helfrich. A meeting will be set soon to discuss the plans and start date for renovations.
