Hartnell College hosts Faces of DACA

Dreamers share their stories from the Salinas Valley to Capitol Hill

SALINAS, Calif.   –  The Hartnell Community College District and the Center for Achievement and Student Advancement (Mi CASA) invite the community at large to the  Salinas based project release of  Faces of DACA  on  Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.  at Hartnell’s Mainstage located in Building K at 411 Central Avenue, Salinas, CA.

Faces of DACA  is a storytelling website that captures some of the untold stories from America's undocumented youth.   Salinas resident and Hartnell alumnus, Daniel Diaz, created a platform of support and celebration for the Dreamers and seeks to be part of the solution for not only his future, but the future of 800,000 DACA recipients. Diaz, a local software engineer, who graduated from the CSin3 program, built a website telling the stories and portrayed the faces of 30 DACA recipients.

Diaz, his team, and some of the project participants will be at the event over a fireside chat/discussion panel to get a taste of what the Faces of DACA  team experienced for the past few months as they have met with participants and documented their stories.

A small dinner box will be served. There will be an art exhibition viewing of a handful of the participant's portraits that have been painted by a local artist.

If you have any questions about the event, please contact the team at  we.r.daca@gmail.com .    If you would like to see the project and read some of these untold stories, visit  http://www.facesofdaca.us/ .
