Hartnell hosts a community dialogue for Juntos Podemos

 

SALINAS, Calif. – On  Saturday, October 1, 2016 , Hartnell College will host the Juntos Podemos sixth Community Dialogue with the theme, Our Community: Young Achievers. The event is open to the public and will be at the Student Center located in building C at 411 Central Avenue, Salinas, CA. 

 

The dialogue will be focused on how the local youth can be the champions of change and prosperity in the Salinas Valley.  A number of Hartnell outreach staff, students, and alumni will participate in the Resource Fair, in the program, and in dialogue.  The program is in Spanish, but MIIS interpreters will aid with simultaneous translation via headphones.

 

The event will include a resource fair, guest speakers, and a dialogue with guest speakers.  Childcare, art activities for children, music, snacks, refreshments, and prize drawings will be available to the attendees.  The program will go as follows:

 

10:00 a.m.        Resource Fair opens

11:00                Opening act: Latin Jazz Youth Orchestra

                                                Salinas youth speak out

                                                Speaker: Erandi Garcia, Univision 67

                                                Keynote speaker: Dra. Maria Alejandrina Nava, Psychologist

                                                Dialogue moderator: Dr. William Arrocha, Professor MIIS

1:00 p.m.          Closing act: Hartnell Folklorico Dance Club
