SALINAS, Calif. – Hartnell Community College District has an open call for nominations for the 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award. The selected alumnus/alumna will also be our 2019 Commencement Speaker. This special award and recognition tradition began in 2014. It is granted to an individual who has achieved distinction in his/her chosen field and has demonstrated on-going contributions to the College and/or community.

The nomination period is now open through Feb. 19, 2019. Hartnell College Distinguished Alumni Award nominees may be recommended to the Superintendent/President by Trustees, employees and the community at large.  

“Hartnell College has provided a foundation of excellence that has launched successful lives and careers,” said Superintendent/President Dr. Willard Lewallen. “The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes the accomplishments of Hartnell alumni who have distinguished themselves as leaders and contributors following their education experience at Hartnell.”

Past Distinguished Alumni include: Patricia Anna Garcia (2014), Dr. Norma Ambriz-Galaviz (2015), Gary Tanimura (2016) and Jeff Nessen Schmidt (2016-Posthumous), Emmett Linder (2017), and Rafael Vazquez (2018).
