11th Annual STEM Internship Symposium
Over 50 students to present their STEM research projects
SALINAS, Calif. – The Hartnell Community College District is proud to present the 11th Annual STEM Summer Internship Symposium this Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 411 Central Avenue, Salinas, CA in the new STEM Center Building. The event is open to the public. Over 50 students will share their research experience in large poster boards displayed throughout the STEM Center. Each student receives a $3,800 stipend and an experience that broadens his or her scope.
“Hartnell College is strengthening diversity in STEM while taking on the challenge of meeting our nation’s skilled workforce needs,” commented Superintendent/President, Dr. Willard Lewallen. “The program is creating a new legacy of opportunity for the families of the Salinas Valley by producing future generations of bright young scientists through innovative and comprehensive STEM programs and initiatives.” The program will go as follows:

The Andy Newton Outstanding Partner Award will be presented jointly to IBM Almaden Research Center and Hartnell Faculty, Dr. Sewan Fan. IBM has provided extraordinary opportunities to our students for two years. Through the hard work of Dr. Sewan and IBM, this partnership has been successful and filled with opportunities for Hartnell students.
