SALINAS, Calif. – On Saturday, May 7, 2016, Hartnell Community College District and the Hartnell College Foundation present the 10th Annual Party in the Library with the theme Technicolor Dreams. The annual Leadership Award will be presented to Ag and community leader, Butch Lindley for his commitment to Party and to the welfare of the community - especially in education.

“The Hartnell College Foundation is honored to recognize Butch for his incredible support and leadership at Hartnell College and of higher education in the Salinas Valley,” said Jackie Cruz, Vice President of Advancement and Development.  “He has been a source of inspiration to so many in our community and has been the face of Party in the Library through his leadership at our live auction. As we celebrate our 10th anniversary of Party in the Library, honoring Butch makes this event that much more special.”

The support raised at this excellent event allows the Foundation to leverage support all year. For every $1 raised at Party in the Library, the Foundation will turn it into $10 for Hartnell College students!   The significant work carried out by the foundation and the college is vital to the well-being of the entire community.  Through the Foundation’s efforts, Hartnell College is:

  • developing students who will become the next generation of highly trained professionals and productive citizens of the Salinas Valley
  • strengthening our economic development
  • building bridges with K-12 schools to increase the high school completion and college going rates of our youth
  • nationally recognized by NASA as a top community college in producing young talent through STEM
  • building the state’s best agricultural program that meets the needs of the Salinas Valley

This is the biggest fundraiser at Hartnell College.  The funds raised help students reach their educational goals through scholarships and programs.  Last year alone, Party raised over $330,000! The stakes are set high for 2016.
