WELI presents a Forum to empower women to follow their dreams

SALINAS, Calif. – The Hartnell College Foundation presents the third annual Women’s Education and Leadership Institute (WELI) Forum on  Thursday, September 29, 2016  at Tehama Golf Club located at 25000 Via Malpaso, Carmel, CA 93923.  The event will start at  5:30 p.m.  with a wine reception followed by dinner and a WELI Talk.

The WELI Forum is in support of endowing the Women’s Education and Leadership Institute now celebrating its 6th cohort.  WELI provides scholarship support to 25 women each year plus leadership training and mentorship.

“When women have opportunities, the entire family benefits,” expressed Karen Fanoe, Co-Chair of the WELI Forum Committee. “WELI changes families and communities, extending far beyond one woman.”

The panel discussion will feature Lorri Koster (CEO of Mann Packing Company) and Devry Boughner Vorwerk (Senior Policy Advisor at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP) with moderator Adrienne Laurent (Chief Strategic Communications Officer at Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare Systems) in a candid discussion about promoting the economic prosperity of women in the Salinas Valley through education.

This important event will fund the WELI program endowment, ensuring this instrumental support is available to the women of this community for generations to come. Statistics support that a college educated woman is more likely to become financially self-sufficient and pursue a meaningful career that will benefit her, her family, and the community.
