Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
All students interested in applying for Federal Financial Aid must complete the FAFSA each year. The priority application period is October 1st through March 2nd; however, applications are available through out the year.
Steps to Apply
Apply online using the FAFSA Application and list the Hartnell College School Code (001209). Please allow approximately a 2-3 week processing time.
Log into your PAWS for Students account to view your Financial Aid Award Letter and any missing documents required to complete you file under My Documents. You should also regularly monitor your Hartnell email for notifications about your award and missing documents from the Financial Aid Office.
Complete and submit required documents to the Financial Aid Office to review and complete your file. In certain cases, additional documents may be requested. Documents are processed on a first come, first served basis. During PEAK periods, processing time may be as long as 8 weeks.
Look for the bright green envelope in the mail from BankMobile. We have partnered with BankMobile to deliver your financial aid funds. You will need to select a refund preference to have access to your funds. For more information visit http://bankmobiledisbursements.com/refundchoices/
Due to the current situation with Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) our Money Monday labs have been temporarily postponed. Please continue to check our website for updates.
Don't forget to sign your FAFSA and have your parent sign (if applicable) as well. This can be done electronically with the FSA ID, or by printing and signing a signature page. Parents can also sign electronically with a FSA ID.
Signing your FAFSA online with a FSA ID will ensure you receive quick and timely responses
from the U. S. Department of Education via the email address you provided when you
created the FSA ID. Once a FAFSA confirmation is received via e-mail, mark the U.
S. Department of Education as a contact. This will ensure all future correspondence
from the Department of Education is received. It is advisable to review your e-mails
sent to junk, bulk, and spam files 72 hours after submitting the FAFSA.
Unable to sign with an FSA ID? You can also sign via a signature page. Signature pages must be mailed to the Department of Education. Please note that mailed signature pages can take a few weeks to process. If you did not provide an email address you will receive your Federal Student Aid Report (SAR) via mail in approximately two to four weeks. Soon after, you will also receive an email from Hartnell's Financial Aid Office with further instructions to complete your financial aid file. In order to ensure timely processing, complete and return these documents to us promptly.
